Kit's Job

I think that Kit should try and fight for her job, because it seems that she likes to teach them but in her own way. The teachers that work around her in different classes don't like how she teaches the students. If I were in her shoes I would try to keep it, so that she can prove to her family that she can work.

Imaginary Letter

Dear Friend,

I hope your having a better time in Barbados then I am here in America. Let me tell you its not what you think it is, when I first saw America it was gloomy and nothing to it. The houses here in America are not as nice as ours back home. Just as the ship was taking off a little girl threw off her toy and was trying to get her mother's attention to get it, but no one would even hesitate to try and get it. I being the nice person I am, I decided to jump in the water and get it myself. When people realized I jumped off, they looked at me in a totally different way, because they were shocked I could swim. They now think I'm a witch. It's different here. Everyone has to do things themselves. They don't have any slaves. Its like they are their own slaves. Another thing is when guys wanna see a girl or wanna be with them, they have to ask the father or the man of the household to court them. That's their way of asking a girl out or on a date. Well, I just wanted to let you know how this trip has been for me, and hope you're having a better time at home than I am here.
 From Your Friend

My Spring Break

For me my spring break wasn't all that fun. What I did was babysit my sister and argue with her all week. This last weekend was the most fun I had all spring break. Friday I went to a dance with friends and had so much fun. Saturday was a busy a day for me, first I went to my nephews birthday. Then after his party I got ready for midnight bowling with friends. On Sunday it was a layed back day and I hungout with family we went to wonderland for a while. After we got tired of wonderland we went home and watched movies all day being lazy.

SpRiNg BrEaK

For my spring break I'm going to head over the mountains for a couple days to see my family that I haven't seen since last summer. Then for the rest of my spring break I'll hangout with my friends most of the time. To keep my reading up I'm going to read about every day in the afternoon and before I go to bed. If I wanna get closer to getting my GED I need to keep doing what I do, which is reading, and writing what I read. What I'm going to do is go to the library most of the time during my spring break, and work on reading a lot and also doing packets. So I can come back with a positive feeling that I can keep going with no one getting in my way.(:

Kit's Choices

Some of Kit's decisions she chooses are perect in her eyes, but to me she doesn't make appropriate choices. The choices she decides to make are just showing up at her aunt's house, or deciding she is gonna speak up with out permission. I really don't think she should have saved the little girl's doll, because she wouldn't have had all the people in America stare at her different and make them think things. All the people in America think of her as a witch since she is able to swim with no problem. From what I read in the book I don't think she should have offered her cousins clothes because, her uncle didn't like that she shows up to there house with no notice or warning that she is coming to visit or to stay with them. Uncle Matthew didn't like that Kit offered all these clothes when his daughters had enough clothes and didn't need hers.

Character

Uncle Matthew is the type of person who is very strict and seems to always be very angry. When he first met Kit his niece, he didn't know what to think about her because she had a totally different attitude from all the other woman in the house. Uncle Matthew was the type of guy that followed the rules. He always read the bible to his children before they all went to bed. He never let the kids play around and he always made them work or cook food. Matthew didn't except that he had to feed another mouth and he didn't let his family except Kit's clothing.

Kit's Shoes

For my first time in America I wouldn't like it if it was all gray and gloomy. I wouldn't want my family to have this experience of gray and gloomy so I wouldn't want to bring them with me. If I was alone for the first time in America I would be so scared and wouldn't know what to do. I'm new and wouldn't know where to start with anything. My best way of trying to fit in is would sit and watch people to see how they acted so I wouldn't look to much different from them. I wouldn't really act any different, but not try to look out of place from everyone else.

10 Mistakes

The Witch of Blackbird Pond is a book about a girl named Kit who moves from Barbados to America in 1687. Her grandfather has died, and she is going to go live with her aunt. The town she moves to is full of Puritans who are much more religious than she is. She is constantly doing things that make her look strange to the people in America, because her culture in Barbados is so different.

3 Day Weekend(:

For my extra day off I'm going to hangout with friends all day and try to enjoy my day. I was gonna go out with my girls on Friday night, but I can't this weekend from what my mom said. Saturday I'm going to go to a get together with my mom, auntie, and my best friend. A little later during the day I'm going to be babysitting. There's times I don't like to babysit but it gets me some money. The last day of the weekend I'm just going to be lazy.Sundays are always my being lazy and I do nothing but sit and watch TV.

Character

The character Kit is a very caring girl, bold, and will speak her mind no matter where she is or who she is talking to. To some of the other character's in the book she is rich, has a lot of clothes, and actually cares about others. She is supposedly a witch to the people that live in America. Kit out of all people, she is the only one who can swim, and that's why people are thinking she is a witch. Her Grandfather is the one who taught her to swim and everything she knows.

Setting!

In mid-April, 1687, in Connecticut on the River. The young lady Kit Tyler was traveling to America for the first time from Barbados which were she lived. When she first came to America by traveling on a sail boat, she first was disappointed of the way it looked, it was gloomy and gray. Types of houses were just little plain wooden boxes. Some other people in the book, noticed that Kit was a natural at sailing. Place's you could sleep were on the bottom of the boat. They were called cabins. This is were you would stay during a storm so you could at least get a little warmth during this time of traveling. Their way of making clothing was using a spinning wheel. Kit was the type of girl to help other's out even if it was to jump over board to get a little toy for a young child.

Complex

The Puritans, who believed in hard work, came to America because they wanted to worship God the way they believed. From reading the Bible the idleness was from the devil and the devil walked among us. Also they thought that witches did the devil's work.

Salem Witch Trials

For people in 1692 in Salem children weren't allowed to have any games or toys. They had to concentrate on chores and bible verses. Some girls in 1692 started acting different so the towns people thought they were victims of witchcraft. Many of the girls started changing through different things like some started barking and flapping their arms, rolling on the ground and the towns people made the girls point out who had done this to them. If the people were to lie about being a witch, they would be hung. As the months passed more and more people would be hung..If I would have been one of those little girls or women, I would be the one to obey my father or whom ever I was supposed to obey. Life to me for them seemed really strict. They had to be doing chores and reading bible verses and having no fun.
